Stop in and check us out!

The Montello Public Library is the heart of the city of Montello.  We are a lifelong learning institute that empowers people with materials, services, and a welcoming staff.  We also add an economic boom to downtown Montello, as many of our partners (patrons and community players) frequent local businesses. It is our mission to assist all of our partners with their educational, recreational, and cultural needs.  Today we circulate more than 52,000 items annually.  Come visit us today!

Thank you "Friends"

Once again, our hard-working and supportive Friends group has come through and provided the library with "extras" that would not be possible through our regular library budget!  Recently, the Friends of the Montello Public Library have paid for an addition to the e-book collection through the Winnefox system ($290+), outdoor beautification supplies (and hours and hours of hard work in the perennial garden - Thanks Dee, Connie and Donna) and a soon-to-be up and running brand new coffee/tea/cocoa station.

Banned Books Week is September 24-October 1

Banned Books Week

The Montello Public Library will be celebrating Banned Books Week, September 24 - October 1.  Staff is encouraging all library partners to pick up books that enlighten and engage at the library during Banned Books Week.

Montello Public Library Accepts Food For Fines

Don't let your library fines keep you from coming to the Montello Public Library!  Starting Friday, May 27, the Montello Public Library will forgive patrons' fines in exchange for unopened, non-perishable food items.

The library will accept one food item per overdue book, CD, DVD, video or other library material as payment of the fines on that item when that item is returned.

In addition, patrons with existing fines will receive $1 credit (up to $20) toward their fines for each food item donated, as long as the materials have already been returned to the library.

What Materials Would You Like to See in the Montello Public Library?

Do you have a recommendation for an excellent children's book you would like to see in the library?  How about a new movie you would like to see stocked on the shelves?  We are here for you, and we encourage you to fill out our new "Recommendation for Purchase Form."  Please supply as much information as possible; some fields are required.  While we cannot fill each and every new material request, we will use this form to further enhance our collection, and to serve you better.
